Finding stillness through the yoga of handstands: guiding you towards being upside down with balance, ease and a comfortable flowing breath.
We will begin with a yoga flow to open up the body and breath, and prepare the upper body to bear our weight. Through solo, partner and trio exercises, we will train pathways, establish alignment and build stamina upside down. Through this, there will be guidance and principles for safe and effective spotting.
There will be foundational instructions for those new to handstands, and room to explore shapes and variations for those already comfortable with the practice. Skills developed will be transferable across all aspects of inversions and arm balances, with options to focus on variations of these. In order to continue the practice beyond this workshop, conditioning and alignment exercises will be offered for ongoing practice. To get the most out of this workshop, practitioners are recommended to have a consistent practice and be able to hold downward facing dog and plank pose comfortably.
