Nurturing Harmony: a Restorative Yoga Practice for Modern Life

  • Inna Bliss Yoga 57 Oxford Street Bulimba, QLD, 4171 Australia (map)

In this Restorative Yoga workshop with Alexandra, we will look at unpacking the Relaxation Response to further our understanding of what this is and how we are cultivating this skill in our Restorative Practice.

The relaxation response term was first coined by Dr. Herbert Benson in the 1960/70’s describing the body’s ability to counter the fight-flight response to decrease psychological and physiological responses to stress and modern-day life pressures.

The benefits of being able to connect and embody our relaxation response can positively impact our physical, mental, and emotional health and support improving our sleep, reduce anxiety and depression, and enhance our immune system.

A restorative practice can be made accessible for anyone. Whether you seek quality rest or feel weak, fatigued, recovering from an injury or illness and is very beneficial for the times before, during, and after major life events: death of a loved one, change of a job or residence, marriage, divorce, major holidays, and vacations.

This is a practice that will teach you how to find a balance point between the fast-paced nature of the modern world & exhaustion. We have very few habits that encourage finding balance between those two extremes. This balance point is in remembering the art of being relaxed and how to build resources to self-regulate.

Through a restorative yoga practice, and the cultivation and experience of deep relaxation, you will be deeply nurtured from within. Aiding you to come into harmony with your body’s natural rhythms. Living by these rhythms is the key to good health.
